Day Ten: Happy (Insert Special Occasion Here)!
Today’s Prompt: Tell us something about your favorite childhood meal–the one that was always a treat, that meant “celebration,” or that comforted you and has deep roots in your memory.
23 years old and food is one of my favorite things. Growing up, and still to this day, when I see my Nana (my mom’s mother) she always has a special thing prepared for me: maduros, fried bananas, and rice and beans. In more recent years she’s added chile verde to the mix. These foods are just complete comfort foods; I love eating them and they just remind me of my Nana. I never eat them any other time, except when I see her. It’s such a treat and I never get tired of eating it. It’s just a happy feeling knowing that I have those special foods waiting for me when I see her 🙂
What’s your favorite childhood meal?
PS…this whole posting everyday thing…clearly is a struggle for me! Yikes! Did not think it would be this challenging.
